9:20 am Beyond Crisis: Everyday Assistance and Evolving Benefit Solutions Presented by Anna Meiners, MA, Vice President, Customer Success with Canopy, Innovative Wellbeing The needs of employees and their families continue to shift, requiring a broader approach to support that extends beyond crisis care. Although anxiety remains a top clinical concern, the challenges of parents and caregivers, mounting financial stress, navigating grief, and increasing substance misuse are topics creating widespread strain in today’s workforce. Employees are looking for more than crisis intervention; they need everyday assistance for challenges that impact their wellbeing. Innovative partners are addressing these traditionally overlooked areas while helping employers adapt to a rapidly changing benefits landscape. This session will explore how organizations can balance immediate needs while providing solutions that go beyond reactive care. Attendees will gain insights into emerging trends, sustainable strategies, the role of organizational leaders and the evolving role of benefits in meeting employees where they are—before challenges become crises. 10:30 am The Evolving Behavioral Health Landscape in the US: A Payer Perspective Presented by Paul Giger - Providence Health Plan Mental health care in the United States has chronically faced challenges related to adequate supply of providers and difficulty in measuring outcomes. The pandemic was a pivotal moment in the history of mental healthcare in the US by validating telehealth as viable alternative to routine, in-person care. At the same time, the US has seen tremendous increase in demand for mental health services and spiking rates of suicide in select populations. This presentation will review – from a payer perspective – the current landscape in the behavioral health space with a focus on trends, innovations, and future directions. We will also address the issue of mental health parity and how it impacts the provision of mental health care in the US. This program was approved for one (1) hour of general continuing education by the Oregon Insurance Commission and the Washington State Office of the Insurance Commissioner.
