AI in Healthcare: Current Use and Near- Term Impact across Providers, Patients and Payors.
Presented by Julianne Horner, REBC, Sr Account Executive with Providence Health Plan
Artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming healthcare by reshaping how providers deliver care, how patients engage with the system, and how payors manage cost, quality, and risk. This course provides a practical overview of how AI is being used today in clinical decision support, patient engagement, operational efficiency, and insurance functions such as utilization management and risk adjustment. Attendees will gain a clear understanding of real-world AI applications that are already influencing outcomes and workflows across the healthcare ecosystem. The presentation will also explore emerging AI capabilities expected in the near future, including predictive analytics, automation, and personalized care at scale. Emphasis is placed on implications for strategy, compliance, and value creation across providers, patients, and payors.

Regulatory Enforcement Trends, Market Conduct Findings, and Oversight of Third-Party Administrators (TPAs) and Vendors
Presented by John Haworth, CIE, CPCU, FLMI, MBA, MCM, Insurance Licensing & Retaliatory Tax Manager with Division of Financial Regulation | Oregon Department of Consumer and Business Services
This presentation will review current regulatory enforcement trends and recent market conduct findings, with a focus on what regulators are flagging right now. Topics will include the most common producer-related violations identified in recent market conduct exams, patterns in complaints tied to agents versus carriers, enforcement priorities for the next 12–24 months, and how regulators distinguish between good-faith errors and systemic noncompliance. The goal is to provide direct compliance risk mitigation insight for producers. The session will also address oversight of third-party administrators (TPAs) and vendors as more health carriers outsource key functions. Discussion will include compliance concerns related to prior authorization, claims administration, and provider directories; phone apps that provide chat functions, plan information, and claims status; TPAs that contract with other TPAs; and issues involving customer service, grievances, disputes, and external review. We are seeing enforcement issues involving TPAs and carrier oversight of those functions, including situations where producers also work for TPAs.

Ethics: Slip and Fall - Part 2
Presented by Craig Westling, Senior Sales Executive, USAable Life
Many Ethicists point out that allowing small ethical lapses to go unaddressed can lead to greater lapses. These lapses can compound until they are in fact large Ethical Failures. We’ll examine ethical dilemmas in a contrasting industry and compare them to the practice of Benefit Consulting. The goal is to awaken our awareness via thinking differently about process. We seek to sharpen our ability to clearly identify patterns in our own business conduct which can lead to Ethical Slips.
